Club History

The San Jacinto High Rollers is the oldest AMA motorcycle club in Texas.  It was founded in Pasadena in 1957 and has a very rich history.  The SJHR has supported the Lions Club Children's Camp in Kerrville, Texas since 1958.  The SJHR makes a yearly trek  to present a check on behalf of the SJHR MC every year sometime in July or August.  Our National run raises money for this charity and occasionally chapters donate part of their proceeds from runs to this charity as well.

The San Jacinto High Rollers Motorcycle Club was originally founded in 1957 as an AMA Chartered, non-profit organization to provide assistance for children in need and to improve the public image of motorcycling.

Liberty County Chapter of the San Jacinto High Rollers was established in 2006. Liberty County Chapter's primary charity is the Brown Bag Buddies of the Dayton Independent School District. SJHR LC attends many benefits and charity runs throughout the year. We are a family oriented Motorcycle Club geared toward Brotherhood. SJHR LC members  join together for camaraderie, strength of numbers, companionship, education, rider training, and socialization.

For those who don’t know, Brown Bag Buddies was formed about 15 years ago when Dayton School Nurse, Karen Allen realized that some children in the school district needed help.

According to Allen, about 15 years ago the family of a student in Dayton was struggling and did not have the resources for items most families would consider common. Allen recognizing the need and went all over the county seeking assistance for this family. This need made it obvious to Allen that a group was needed to assist students and families in crisis and Brown Bag Buddies was formed. Usually Brown Bag Buddies attempts to find individuals in the community who are willing to sponsor a child throughout the school year, but now do accept donations. In years past Brown Bag Buddies assisted children in the Dayton Independent School District but the program is being expanded to include students from other area school districts.

The San Jacinto High Rollers, founded in 1957, became aware of the program and made the decision to help and today made a donation to the organization. The check from the San Jacinto High Rollers was presented to Karen Allen at the Kimmie Brown Elementary School in Dayton. In addition to Brown Bag Buddies, the San Jacinto High Rollers works to assist the Special Olympics and a children’s home in Kerrville, TX.

Nurse Allen said the funds donated today would be shared with other area school districts.
